Castle Beckov

Printer-friendly version
On the road between Nové Mesto nad Váhom and Trenčín on the right side it is impossible to ignore the ruins of Castle Beckov, which is situated on the steep 70 m high rock above a village with the same name.
The limestone rock above a ford of the river Váh bordering the Trenčín and Nitra župy had a strategic significance explaining the logics for the location of the castle built in the 13th century. It consisted of four towers, with a protection wall which was connected to the castle two stories palace. In the time of booming power of Matúš Čák it belonged to him.
