Memorial of tortured in Brezina

Printer-friendly version
The original memorial of tortured is located memorialin Dušova valley in the Forest park of Brezina and is devoted to 69 victims of fascism, who were executed here by Germans from October 1944 till April 1945.
The memorial was first exhibited in 1946. In 1970 the location of the memorial was changed to a different place in Brezina – a cherry orchard. The reason for movement was due to better accessibility for visitors and also the memory was taken more intensely therefore it needed a better “setting”. Designers of the new memorial were architect Jozef Fízell – designer of the thorn crown.
It is accessible by car from Štefánikova through Kukučínova St., or by foot from centre of town from Sládkovičova St.
