Mníchova Lehota
Mníchova Lehota is located on the strategic business route from Morava and from the central Považie (Valley) direction of Nitra and central Slovak mining towns. There are many written traces regarding the founding of Mníchova Lehota. Taking into account its strategic location there existed in the old towns a minimum of a watchtower, which served to document the movement within the valley up to the Trenčín castle rock. In the upper part of the village there is an ideally located hill Kostelec.
Church of the holy Trinity
The church was built in the time of early gothic’s at the beginning of the 14th century.
Pilgrim on Inovec
In the 17th century in a rock cave under Inovec, there was a pilgrim František Rozvadský from Rozvádze (nowadays part of Trenčianske Stankovce). During his youth unconsciously caused the burning of his fiancée Eva Sokolovská at Trenčín castle as a witch. Under the influence of her horrible death he became a pilgrim. Every good Friday, he was carrying a wooden cross from Inovec to Trenčín. He lived till the age of 78. Shortly after his death the rock collapsed and closed the entrance of the cave. Nearby the cave there is a plaque remembering this event. From the rocks of the cave there is a small Lourdes grotto built at the church in Mníchova Lehota.
Railway station at Járky in Mníchova Lehota is the highest station on the route
(355.56 a.s.l.) Trenčín - Bošany, 80 % of this route is an inclining slope. The station is also the starting point for the hiking trail (red sign ) direction Inovec.
