Romanesque church of Haluzice

Printer-friendly version
North west from Nové Mesto nad Váhom there is Bošácka valley, which is part of the Biele Karpaty (White Carpathians). As its silent guard there is a fortified roman church at the hill in Haluzice.
The first documented record of the church is from 1299. In this time the church was won in a battle by the army of Matúš Čák. Later it was rebuilt in gothic and renaissance style. In the 19th century it was abandoned and in the 1960’s it was partly reconstructed and conserved. Currently wedding ceremonies take place here. From the hill of the church there is a beautiful view of Váh, Beckov and Trenčín castle.
