Strážovské hills
Belong to Fatra-Tatras area of the West Carpathians. South of Trenčín, in the Jastrabské saddleback, the hills connect to Považský Inovec. On the east, they connect to Malá Fatra at the Fačkovské saddleback, while to the north the hills spread over the Briestenné settlement and connect to the Súľovské hills. The hills take up more than 900 km2.
Its climate is mild warm while the peaks belong in the cold zone. Beech trees cover the greatest area, some oak trees are found in the southern part. The area is divided into 4 subregions and 22 zones. Broader environment of Trenčín mainly includes the following zones: Teplická highland (Slapský vrch 798 m), Basky (Baske 955 m), Ostrý (Ostrý vrch 768 m). Main part of the ridge is composed of limestone, dolomite and marl limestone. This is a mountain ridge of various structures which gives rise to unique peak shapes.
