Považský Inovec
Belongs to Fatra-Tatras area of the West Carpathians. It stretches in the north-south direction along the Váh River, from Jastrabské saddleback to the City of Hlohovec. Mountain is of the size of 600 km2. It is divided into 4 subregions – Vysoký Inovec, with the tallest peak of the ridge (Inovec 1024 m), Nízky Inovec (Bezovec 743 m), Inovecké predhorie, and Krahulčie hills (Marhát 749 m). The northern and central parts are especially attractive for tourists, offering possibilities for both winter and summer tourism.
With the exception of its top parts, the ridge is a mild warm area. Numerous local mineral springs can be found here. Most frequent are oak-carpinus woodlands, together with beechwood. Strong quartzite, limestone, and dolomites rise above the rest as massive rock walls and platforms (surroundings of Beckov). Forest region with hills is characteristic for its vast areas of steppes with rural residential structures.
Recommended hiking trails:
Very popular is hike to Inovec (1042 m). Beech woods with occasional oak-carpinus vegetation reach as high as the top pyramid. Top parts are covered with sprucewood. Although the top platform does not provide for panoramic view, the nearby Palúch (1001 m) and upper part of the ski meadow provide such views. Weather permitting visitors may get a view of Vršatecké rifts, Vápeč, and Baske (northern direction). A tourist chalet is built at the altitude of 840 m.
Access
from the north, from the village of Mníchova Lehota – railway station – red sign.
